Fenomena Alam Luarbiasa Menyambut awal pergantian tahun 2011. Gerhana matahari sebagian pada awal 2011 terjadi pada Selasa (4/1). Masyarakat yang tinggal di sejumlah negara di benua Eropa dan Afrika utara, serta Rusia bagian tengan dan Cina bagian barat laut dapat menyaksikan Gerhana pada saat matahari terbenam.
Sementara itu, di bagian timur laut Swedia yaitu di dekat kota Skelleftea, akan menyaksikan bulan menutupi hampir 90% bagian matahari. Para pengamat bintang akan mendapatkan pemandangan yag menakjubkan pada malam hari nanti. Seperti biasa, di saat Gerhana Matahari, masyarakat diminta untuk waspada.
Jika ingin melihat Gerhana Matahari harus menggunakan alat pelindung – seperti kacamata dan teleskop matahari. Di sebagian lokasi, kelompok profesional dan amatir dalam bidang astronomi akan membuat sistem observasi yang aman. Salah satunya, di Inggris, ada program yang disiarkan oleh BBC.
Negara pertama yang dapat menyaksikan Gerhana Matahari sebagian adalah bagian utara Algeria, pada 06.40 GMT. Di sejumlah negara Eropa seperti London dan Paris, akan menyaksikan Gerhana Matahari pada saat matahari terbit. Sementara, negara-negara di bagian Timur akan menyaksikan Gerhana Matahari sebagian menjelang matahari terbit, seperti di Rusia Tengah, Kazakhstan, Mongolia dan China.
The first solar eclipse of 2011. Yesterday a partial solar eclipse took place, observable through most of Europe and northwestern Asia. Over parts of Europe, as much as two-thirds of the sun slipped from view behind the moon. The region that saw the greatest eclipse was in northern Sweden. This was the first of four partial solar eclipses which will occur in 2011, the others taking place on June 1st, July 1st and November 25th.
